At the Inaugural of the all.ai 2020 Virtual Summit saw the launch of the INAI initiative. This initiative is a collaboration of Intel India, Public Health Foundation of India (PHFI), International Institute of Information Technology Hyderabad (IIIT-H), and the Telangana Government. INAI is an initiative to use AI to thpopulation-scale problems. It is tailor-made for the Indian context, keeping in mind that there needs to be a spotlight on identifying and solving problems in the health-care and smart mobility segments.
There is no question that technology has improved to a great extent over the past few decades. Artificial Intelligence had a major role in the process. Without AI, your phone would not unlock because it cannot recognize your face, your auto-correct would not correct you and Google would not try to predict what you want to say. Yes, the world works the way it does because human beings had the capacity to make machines understand, analyze, and learn from data through specifically designed algorithms.
Bangalore has mainly been at the top for being the technological hub, with Hyderabad coming a close second. This initiative of INAI with the Telangana government, which is the first-of-its-kind Applied AI Research Center, may put Telangana at the top for the same.
The Intel country head of India, Nivruti Ray, said that with its unique strengths, this would help India become synonymous with AI as it would help critical segments, like health-care, research and technology, and skills, achieve its full and true potential.
Before the dive of details, one has to know what Intel, IIIT-H, and PHFI is and does.
Intel is an industry-leading company that creates world-changing technology to enrich lives. They work to address their consumer’s greatest challenges by advancing the designs and manufacturing semiconductors.
III-T or International Institute of Information Technology is a nationally accredited research university in Hyderabad that focuses on Computer Science, Electronics and Communication, and their interdisciplinary applications across other domains.
The Public Health Foundation of India or the PHFI is the founding health-care partner for INAI. It is a public-private initiative that has fully evolved through consultations with multiple constituencies like the Indian and international academia, state and center government, etc.
Collaboration was key.
The About all.ai 2020 Virtual Summit and AI For Youth Symposium is a collaborative effort for Intel India to create a platform for industry, academia, and government to offer a deep dive into leveraging AI to solve problems at the population scale. It was held from October 12-16.
How does INAI work?
INAI would create national assets in AI. These national assets would include curating data-sets and computing infrastructure. work to increase India’s leadership in AI.
In the area of smart mobility, it would help in advance research to pave the way to reduce road accidents. It would therefore increase the safety on roads for all the pedestrians, the rider, and the driver. This advanced technology would emphasize the research and identify the problems that hinder mobility or cause issues for the people. It would have a resounding result.
In the area of public health, it would us to recognize and predict communicable diseases effortlessly with the help of advanced research. It would also help in extending health coverage by giving solutions that will stem from research.
“The launch of INAI, the Applied AI Research Center in Hyderabad, is a key milestone in our digitization journey,” said Sri K. T. Rama Rao, Honorable Minister for IT, Industries, Government of Telangana. “I strongly believe it is imperative for all ecosystem stakeholders to collectively work with a synchronous effort towards realizing our AI vision for enabling better governance and elevating the quality of life for our people.”
To conclude, it is quite certain that with the launch of this initiative the way we know and understand healthcare, as well as mobility, would change making it much easier to recognize an issue and finding solutions much more easily, which would put the country on a fast track to achieving greater heights.
