PM released the next instalment under PM-KISAN on 25th December

By Kushi Mayur

The Prime Minister of India, Mr. Narendra Modi promised crores of farmers, a Rs. 18,000 crores transfer, and the farmer’s families, a 9 crores beneficiary under the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi (PM-KISAN) scheme on the 25th of December, the birth anniversary of Former Prime Minister, Atal Bihari Vajpayee, and to celebrate Good Governance Day at 12 pm via video conferencing, with the citizens of India, cabinet ministers and the farmers.

With the push of a button, Mr. Modi executed this plan miserably, as some of the farmers and their families were not benefitted from the PM-KISAN scheme. As per the media report, from the 23rd December, stated that many farmer beneficiaries were generated, while the FTO (Fund Transfer Order) were not generated. This problem hijacked the PM-KISAN scheme, due to the inefficiency, during the debiting of funds from the account.

Therefore, some farmers, whose FTO is generated, got disbursal funds in their accounts, and unfortunately, some famers did not.

In addition to this scheme, the Government planned to provide Rs.6,000 annum in three equal instalments- Rs. 2,000 per annum to small and marginal farmers, having combined land owning or ownership of up to 2 hectares.

To check the eligibility of the famers for the PM-KISAN scheme, the Union Territories and States will analyse the financial, social and economic status-quo of the farmers. When the criteria of the farmers match up with the farmer’s entry requirements, then only, the fund will be directly transferred to the bank accounts of the beneficiaries.

While the COVID pandemic has taken a toll on human lives; especially, the farmers, Mr. Modi will also address farmers from six states. This is a way for the government to showcase their efforts, amidst the farmer’s protests, against the three farmer bills.

Furthermore, this session will give an opportunity for an open discussion about with the farmer, inculcating their experiences, day to day problems, regarding this scheme, as well as other initiatives taken by the Government.

Besides, previously in 2019, Mr. Modi had released beneficiaries for thousands of farmers, mostly the Punjab farmers. Moreover, this time, the Union Agriculture Minister, Mr. Narendra Singh Tomar, informed the PM, that over 2 crore farmers have registered for the online programme, due to the media attention gained by the never ending farmer’s protests.

Recently, Modi had addressed the Madhya Pradesh farmers when the Shivraj Singh Chouhan-led BJP government disbursed compensations for the crop loss, in result of massive hailstorms, damaging the implanted seeds, fertile soil, land, and crops.

However, the government has taken an initiative to protect the farmers; socially, economically, and politically, to the best of their ability, by-way-of legislation. Tomar has amplified the fact, that the Government is open to talks, regarding their needs and wants, to the frustrated and agitated farmers.

The Centre has also mentioned, that these measures, and reforms are in the best interest of farmers, and will only help the economy of the country.
