“It always seems impossible until it’s done.” The pandemic led the world to a road of extreme twists and turns to the extent that the most negative word of 2020 was ‘Positive’. After a long wait the countrywide COVID-19 vaccination program has been initiated and is being conducted successfully on. The aggregate number of healthcare workers vaccinated for COVID19 has crossed twenty lakhs as on 26th January 2021. The day is arriving when masks will cease to be a part of our daily lives. The year 2020 has caused colossal damage to the economy of our country and the world as a whole, with the main reason being the outbreak of Coronavirus. Because of this, Inflation Rates soared up at an alarming rate but now it can be witnessed that the inflation rate has reduced, relieving a part of the burden on Indian economy. 

Moreover, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday announced a seed fund worth Rs 1,000 crore for start-ups to set-up and grow their businesses and also launched a dedicated television show — Start-up Champions to be telecasted on the public service broadcaster Door darshan (DD). In his address to the BIMSTEC countries at the Start-up India’s international summit Pranab, PM Modi said that the government is taking crucial steps to ensure that India’s start-ups don’t have to face any shortage of capital.He quoted that “In order to provide initial capital to start-ups, the country is launching a Start-up India seed fund worth Rs 1,000 crore. This will help to start and grow new start-ups”. 

Another positive thing is the anticipation of a favourable budget. Nirmala Sitharaman may actually present a game-changing Budget that can alter the course of Indian economy. The bold decision to cut corporate taxes has already shown that the government will not back out from taking strong & effective steps to remedy an ailing economy.

Recently we witnessed history in the making when the Indian cricket team won the Gabba cup in Australia. This came after their debacle in Adelaide where Indian cricket team were all out at 36 runs . There were no hopes of winning the match at Gabba. Marred with injuries, abuse, and bio-bubble fatigue, India have been relentless so far in their pursuit of glory. A lot of people started doubting whether Indian cricket team will even be able to stand. Even after all the obstacles Indian cricket team was able to break the Australia’s fortress and rose to victory against the unbeatable Australia 

Joe Biden has been sworn in as the 46th President of the United States and Kamala Harris took oath as first woman Vice President. Biden has given hope US Senate’s approval for the Indo-US nuclear deal and several anti-terrorism legislations. Earlier He had actively supported the removal of US sanctions on India and also advocated for India to have a ‘seat at the high table’ on the global arena. Moreover, Biden has also announced that he is going to reverse many restrictions on foreigners, one of them being a travel ban on Muslims. Joe Biden’s arrival marks relaxation in a lot of restrictions that other countries are looking forward to.

This week demonstrated a beautiful example of women empowerment. History has been made and the ceiling has been crashed. Kaja Kallas was sworn in as the prime minister of Estonia under the presidency of Kersti Kaljulaid, making Estonia the only country in the world to be led by women. This truly exhibits real equality and is an inspiration to the world.

This year brings new hope of recovery , courage of fighting viruses and a new beginning for the world.
